We process personal data only to the extent necessary to provide the platform, manage user accounts, display published content, ensure platform security, prevent abuse, respond to requests, and comply with legal obligations.

  1. What data we process

We may process the following categories of personal data in particular:

a) Account data

This includes, in particular, email address, username, password hash, language settings, account settings, registration date, and login information.

b) Profile data

This includes, in particular, display name, profile description, avatar, links, and other information that you voluntarily publish in your profile.

c) Content data

This includes, in particular, posts, texts, comments, images, media, publication date, editing information, and other content that you create, upload, or publish on the platform.

d) Communication data

If you contact us, we process the information you provide, in particular your email address, the content of your message, and the related communication.

e) Technical data and server logs

When you access the platform, technical data may be processed, in particular IP address, date and time of access, browser type, operating system, requested pages, referrer URL, error logs, security logs, and similar technical information.

f) Moderation and notice data

When content is reported, reviewed, or moderated, we may process the notice, the affected content, the reasoning, the decision taken, communication data, and technical information.

  1. Purposes and legal bases of processing

We process personal data for the following purposes and on the following legal bases:

a) Providing the platform and user accounts

We process account data, profile data, and content data to provide registration, login, profiles, posts, comments, and other platform functions.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

b) Publication and display of content

When you publish content, it will be displayed to other users or publicly according to the functions of the platform.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

c) Security, stability, and abuse prevention

We process technical data and security logs to protect the platform, detect attacks, prevent spam, limit abuse, and ensure reliable operation.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure, stable, and low-abuse operation of the platform.

d) Communication and support

If you contact us, we process your information to respond to and handle your request.

Depending on the type of request, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

e) Moderation, notices, and legal review

We process notices, affected content, and related data to review possible violations of applicable law or our Terms of Use and to respond appropriately.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Where there is a legal obligation, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.

f) Legal obligations

Where we are legally obliged to store, disclose, or otherwise process data, the processing is based on Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.

g) Consent

Where we obtain consent for specific processing activities, the processing is based on Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Consent may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.

  1. Special categories of personal data

The platform is not designed to collect special categories of personal data, such as health data, political opinions, religious beliefs, or data concerning sexual orientation.

Please do not publish such data unless it is necessary. If you voluntarily and manifestly make such information public in your own content, it may be processed and become publicly visible as part of the platform functions.

  1. Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies

We use technically necessary cookies, local storage, or similar technologies where they are required for login, security, session maintenance, language settings, and basic platform functions.

The storage of information on your device or access to information on your device is carried out, where necessary, on the basis of § 25(2) TDDDG.

We use non-essential cookies, analytics tools, or tracking technologies only if valid consent has been obtained.

  1. Public content

Content that you publish publicly may be read, stored, copied, shared, quoted, or indexed by search engines.

Please do not publish personal data, confidential information, or content for which you do not have the necessary rights.

  1. Recipients of personal data

Personal data may be transferred to the following categories of recipients:

  • technical service providers, in particular hosting, infrastructure, database, security, and email service providers;
  • other users and the public, where you publish content publicly;
  • authorities, courts, legal advisers, or other bodies where we are legally obliged to do so or where this is necessary to protect our rights.

Where required, service providers are engaged as processors pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.

  1. Transfers to third countries

Where we use service providers outside the European Union or the European Economic Area, personal data will be transferred only if the requirements of the GDPR are met.

This may take place, in particular, on the basis of an adequacy decision by the European Commission or appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.

  1. Retention period

We store personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purposes.

Account data is generally stored for the duration of the user account.

Publicly published content is stored until it is deleted or the user account is deleted, unless legal obligations, security reasons, or legitimate interests require longer storage.

Technical logs are generally stored for up to 30 days, unless longer storage is necessary to investigate security incidents, abuse, or technical issues.

Communication data is stored for as long as necessary to handle the request and for documentation purposes.

Moderation and notice data is stored for as long as necessary for handling, documentation, abuse prevention, legal defence, or legal obligations.

Data in backups may remain stored for a limited period and will be deleted or overwritten as part of regular backup cycles.

  1. Minors

The platform is not specifically directed at children under the age of 16. If you are under 16 years old, you may use the platform only if your legal guardians have consented or if another legal basis applies.

  1. Your rights

Subject to the GDPR, you have in particular the following rights:

  • right of access to your personal data;
  • right to rectification of inaccurate data;
  • right to erasure;
  • right to restriction of processing;
  • right to data portability;
  • right to object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • right to withdraw consent with effect for the future.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

  1. Provision of personal data

The provision of certain personal data is necessary to create a user account and use the platform. Without this data, we cannot provide the respective functions.

  1. No automated decision-making

We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you.

However, technical systems may be used to detect spam, security risks, or abuse.

  1. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the platform, data processing, or legal requirements change. The current version is available on the platform.
